The Darkness & Light of the Whole
In reviewing my year, I feel blessed to be where I am, to be doing what I do and to have people in my life whose unconditional love and support make my life as pleasant and comfortable as it is. This year, alongside the blessings, I am especially grateful for the challenges - the sad, unpleasant and frustrating experiences I have had this year. I don’t know who first said this, but I know it to be true: That which does not kill us makes us stronger. Well..I am still alive, and feel much stronger than I was last year at this time. Older and wiser too.
The challenges I faced were opportunities to explore new ways of being, and to bring about necessary change in my life. I am learning to:
• let go of expectations of others and to accept them as they are.
• let go of my need to be in control, and to trust that everything is unfolding as it is meant to.
• allow consciousness rather than ego to run my life,
• respond from wholeness rather than fragmentation,
• be in the moment rather than hold on to the past.
I have learned that life is not all sunshine and light, but that half the day is night, and that it is in the darkness of sleep that we can process and absorb the experiences of the day. It is in darkness that we dream.
