JANUARY & FEBRUARY 2012: CHI OUTREACH ACTIVITIES

Creative Holistic Integration (CHI) consists of a wide variety of energy-based tools and techniques for holistic self-care.  I offer workshops and classes to share these tools with anyone who wishes to learn and use them.

CHI outreach work  involves sharing these tools and techniques with cancer patients, survivors and caregivers, and HIV-AIDS affected groups and communities in Kenya - especially youth.  The most basic of these energy tools are the CHI Wholeness Exercise for stress relief,  Self-Energizing with Hands and; Finger Holds for Emotional Release.  These techniques and tools help to:

  •  experience ourselves as being energy,
  • access our "wholeness" regardless of our circumstances,
  • care for ourselves by relieving stress, self- energizing, and deal constructively with emotions.

Self-care empowers us.  It strengthens our relationship with ourselves; and in turn strengthens  the immune system and all our body systems.. It also supports mental, emotional and spiritual health and well being . Caring for oneself can have  profound healing effects on individuals and the collectives that they are part of.

I do outreach work on a pro bono basis drawing on income from my classes, workshops  and consultations.  Contributions and donations from friends and relatives also support my outreach work.

In January and February  18 people supported CHI outreach programs through their participation in a 4-session CHI Self-Care.Workshop series and the Women's Weight Management Circle..

OUTREACH WORKSHOPS IN HIV-AIDS- AFFECTED  COMMUNITIES

Due to the high incidence of HIV-AIDS in Kenya, large numbers of people are directly or indirectly affected by the disease.  I believe that the CHI self-care tools and techniques can be very helpful in improving  quality of life for those affected by this  devastating disease.  I therefore take every opportunity I get  to share the CHI self-care tools in HIV-AIDS affected communities.  I am happy to report that they are very well received, greatly appreciated.

In January I  shared self-care techniques and tools with a group of about 30 men and women at a HIV clinic run  by Jomo Kenyatta University.   (Photo above)

TEACHERS WORKSHOP IN OYUGIS
The first week of In February I traveled 5 hours by car to present self-care workshops to 30 teachers in the Oyugis area (Nyanza region) where the rate of HIV-AIDS is high.  It was gratifying to observe that they experienced the power and effectiveness of the techniques I shared with them, and agreed to pass these tools forward to their students and co-workers.  (Photo above)  I presented the same workshop to 45 youth who are community health volunteers in the Oyugis area.

YOUTH VOLUNTEERS PERFORMING STREET THEATER FOR HEALTH EDUCATION

I was invited by  a group of young volunteers who perform street theater for community health education in marketplaces and remote villages in the area, to observe and offer  suggestions for improvement.  I had one or two minor suggestions for them but all in all they were doing a wonderful job connecting with their audience and having loads of creative fun in the process.   (Photo above)

DISTRIBUTING SCHOOL SUPPLIES AT HILL BREEZE ORPHANS SCHOOL IN OYUGIS

On this trip I  delivered and distributed a year's supply of exercise books donated by Rita and Anil Shah, pencils and  children's books donated by Smita Shah of Nairobi, to 80 + students at the Hill Breeze Orphans' School in Oyugis.  (photos below).  It felt like Christmas, and I got to be Santa Claus.

A boy writes his name on his new books.

Thank you, Rita, Anil and Smita!!!

Sheila and Dan Otieno, of Holistic Community Kenya (HCK) accompanied and assisted me on the trip.
Dan  doubled as the driver and photographer.  Many thanks to you both.

YOUR SUPPORT IS URGENTLY NEEDED.

Hill Breeze Orphans School is greatly in need of financial support for teachers salaries.
They cannot charge much in the way of school fees, and the community helps but cannot meet all the financial needs, and they have to turn to well-wishers for support to educate the orphans.
A total of $1000 / month is needed  to pay all the teachers a minimum wage.
Several  people donating $20 - $100 or more each month over the school year can greatly help.
Your donations large and small will be gratefully accepted.
If you can contribute to educating children who have been orphaned. by HIV-AIDS,
please contact me at chisuchinta@yahoo.com.
I will personally ensure proper disbursement of donations and report to donors.
